The best adventure of your life, Erasmus exchange in Borås, is just about to start! Excited about coming to a new place, but wondering what to bring with you? Not sure if you’re pre-pared enough? Afraid that you might forget about something? NOT ANYMORE! ESN Borås is here to help you to be as well prepared as possible! Based on our own experience and suggestions from former exchange students, we have written this little survival guide for you. So read through it, pack your stuff and see you soon in Borås!

STUFF TO BRING:

* warm clothes and boots - you’re coming in January which is just a middle of winter, so tempera-ture below 0 and snow shall not surprise you at all. And, please, note that Swedish winter is slightly different from Spanish winter, so by saying warm clothes we mean it. But don’t be stressed, there are couple of second hand stores here, where you can get woollen jumpers and stuff, however, until you get them, you really need clothes which keep you warm; * an umbrella - pretty handy in Borås; * passport size photo - you’ll need it to get ESN card. You can read more about the card in ‘ESN card’ section on our website; * good humour and lots of energy - you’re just about to start the best time of your life, so don’t for-get your good mood!

RECOMMANDATIONS FROM FORMER EXCHANGE STUDENTS:

* work hard, party hard ("enjoy, there is no "no" not to go to a party!”); * see the scenery; * be social; * share a flat with someone from a different culture; * use the resources at uni; * trust your mentors; * register as an ESN member - we’re gonna tell you once you arrive here, how to do it. * bring heavy clothes; * attend every event.

WHAT FORMER EXCHANGE STUDENTS LIKED ABOUT STAYING IN BORÅS/SWEDEN:

* meeting new friends; * fika - don’t worry if you don’t know yet what fika means, you’ll find out very quickly! * XoY - as above! * food; * Swedish culture; * university introduction; * university in general; * ESN Sea Battle - the event you can’t miss! And we will for sure inform you about the event later on; * Lapland trip - the best opportunity to see the Northern Lights! * improving English and international skills; * parties; * living on your own; * weekend trips.

WHAT FORMER EXCHANGE STUDENTS LIKED A BIT LESS:

* weather - but remember, there is no bad weather, only BAD clothes! * no sun in winter - but summer looong days pay off! * missing family; * going home - but that only shows how great it’s here!
